Hops Harvest, Round 1

Spent a few hours this weekend harvesting hops. There are plenty of cones on the vines, so I only gathered a plastic bucket full. They came to 579 grams, or about 1 and 1/4 pounds. I dried them in a food dehydrator and the dried weight was 116 grams, or about 1/4 of a pound, so they lost 80% of their mass in drying.

I vacuum packed them and stuck them in the freezer for later use, then took about a dozen of the smaller, less well-formed cones and made a pot of hops tea. It was rather bitter on its own, but improved when the cones were steeped with some green tea leaves.
