I’d Like To Buy the World a Coke…
I’d like to buy the world a Coke…if my arms were longer.
I saw this at Larry Fire’s blog, The Fire Wire: ‘Can You Give Me A Hand to Buy a Coke‘. “To celebrate Argentinian friendship day,” he says, “the ad agency Ogilvy created a huge Coca-Cola vending machine.” It takes at least two people to operate. Buy one Coke and your friends get one for free.
I’ve even been kind enough to steal this image from Larry’s blog:
First, I had never heard of ‘Friendship Day‘ before, but Wikipedia says that it is the day that people in Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay get together with friends to celebrate the anniversary of the first Moon landing, oddly enough.
Second, I like the idea. It’s topical to the occasion. It’s interactive. It’s buzzworthy. It involves lifting hot women up into the air. And, it actually has people taking photos of a Coke machine (and people taking photos of people taking photos of a Coke machine).
Finally, it’s a nice idea, but there’s no way I can see this flying in the US because of the possibility of a lawsuit if someone fell and got hurt. And it requires people who want a Coke to know someone who’s skinny.
