Another Fine Mess

A new bill in the California legislature would have the state look into using car license plates for digital advertising.

I have a better idea – Why not just have the state send everyone a list of different things each month:

6 tubes of Colgate toothpaste

24 gallons of Shell gasoline

2 pairs of Nike running shoes

a Toyota Prius

20 lbs. of smoked ham

etc. etc.

The state could check your purchases through credit card records and electronic records at stores. Anyone who fails to purchase every thing on their list would be fined, imprisoned, deported, executed, auctioned off to the highest bidder, whatever.
